The best change in plans, EVER...

January 2012 delivered a real blow to our perfectly planned life...I was busy getting ready to begin my last year of law school (8 hours away from our home, one-way). With two CALI awards under my belt, I was certain law school and beyond was the Lord's will for me. THEN, two pink lines on a pregancy test changed everything...

September 2012 brought us this bundle of joy straight from Heaven!

We were lamenting that we're too old to have a baby. A dear neighbor pointed us to Psalms 127:3-5.
3 - Lo, chilren are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
4 - As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 - Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed...

This baby girl loves her Daddy! We tried and tried to get her to smile for this photoshoot, but all she did was stare at the camera! Poor Daddy had to drop everything & come rescue the photoshooot.

As soon as he arrived, she started smiling at him!

Drought-dictated to-do list

We've been praying for rain. It hasn't come yet. The Lord is providing us with an opportunity for growth! Our pond at the Foster Place has been getting dangerously low... So, my handy husband rounded up the big water tank to fill with some of our irrigation water and take it to the heifers... Cy is always ready to help and loves being involved. Multi-tasking is becoming a way of life for Ben (notice, he's on the phone)... A hard-worker/goof-ball... Off we headed to the Foster Place. I had the glamorous (and important) job of taking down the electric fence so Ben could just pull on through with the loaded water trailer...here they come (see the dot near the center of the picture? That's them). A few drops of water were leaking from the trailer. The cows could smell it immediately. They came from far and wide to lick the trailer. My husband found the place where the snow runs off into the pond and opened the valves... The water is making its way to the pond... And arriving at the pond...cows are still up at the trailer...hope they've found this by now! Ahhh, 12,000 gallons later and it still doesn't look like much! It should buy us enough time to get our hay baled and our pasture fence fixed so we can move the heifers (and bulls)to greener pastures and a more consistent water supply next week!

Farming season has officially begun!

And I couldn't be any happier about it! I love this time of year!

Tuff is always willing to ride on the tractor with me...

Cannot beat the beautiful views...

My "office" for the foreseeable future...

My husband's "office"...

Cy usually rides with me in the tractor but whenever there's a sideroll that needs to be fixed or something that has Daddy tractor-free, he always comes to rescue Cy from the monotony of the tractor. Cy loves helping Daddy!

Plowing is one of my favorites! I love the contrast as last year's wheat stubble is plowed into the rich soil.

My husband, over there working away spreading fertilizer...

The sideroll must be fixed...here comes my favorite passenger...

Cy (with his remaining front tooth) is excited to see Tuff...

All tuckered out...

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Yesterday morning, just as I was diving into picking up the breakfast dishes, my handsome husband walked in and asked if I wanted to go with him to get the tractor. Of course I did, so off we went to the corner to wait for this...

Ben is so brave! There's no way in all the world I would have backed that thing off of the trailer...no thank you!!! When I am driving a tractor, I prefer ALL tires stay firmly on the ground! See the outside tire hanging off of the side??? It was the same story on the other side! Definitely not something for the faint of heart like me!

He backed it off like a pro...

All finished...

Then we headed up to vaccinate our heifers so we could turn them out in the canyon. I don't have any pictures of the actual vaccinating as I was actively involved and too busy! But, I did think to grab a pic as some of the heifers went happily into the canyon.

We had the best day! I love days like that! Working hard and having fun together with my sweetheart!

And yes, when I got back home last night, the breakfast dishes were still waiting for me in the kitchen! But that is ok with me, it was worth it to come home to them! I truly love and am so thankful for the life I am blessed to live!

A memorization project

I'm faithfully working on memorizing, and living, Proverbs 31:10 - 31 (King James Version):

10 - Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 - The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 - She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 - She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 - She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 - She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 - She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 - She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 - She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 - She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 - She strecheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 - She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with Scarlet.

22 - She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 - Her husband is known in the gates when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 - She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 - Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 - She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 - She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 - Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 - Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 - Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 - Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own work priase her in the gates.

One of my favorite days

Has been today! The weather is beautiful!!! We loaded up a picnic, ate it in our canyon and then built fence the rest of the day. We're TIRED but we're so happy and so thankful to get to do the things we do.

Cy worked hard helping Daddy with the fence. I did too but since I had the camera, there is no documented proof!

I love and so appreciate Ben's patience! He lovingly teaches Cy to work and patiently helps him learn each new task.

I love Cy's drive. No matter what we're doing, he is always ready and willing to dive in and work his hardest!

Red & Tuff are learning to ride on the 4-wheeler with us! I'm thrilled because I'm hoping they'll be my irrigating companions this summer!

Cy found a tree to climb into and enjoy his apple after our picnic lunch. Oh how I love these two...

Proof I was there! Love my Cy!

This sums up how we all feel tonight...exhausted!

Our Family

Everyone came home for Thanksgiving 2011! We took advantage of this rare opportunity to snag a few family pictures. Here we all are...
